Today I left Taipei in the early morning to catch a high speed train bound for Taichung. Here I met up with a Taiwan tour bus group for a day trip up to Sun Moon Lake.
Our first stop was at the Guangsing Paper Mill to see the traditional way to produce paper and to get a chance to create our own selfmade paper fan. After the paper mill (… tourist trap? …) we headed on to Wen Wu Temple with its fabulous views over Sun Moon Lake.
After the temple and lunch in a simple restaurant we headed down to the pier to catch a boat for our ship cruise around the lake – stopping at places to allow for some sightseeing or a witness an aboriginal dance performance.
The boat trip was followed by a walk (they called it ‘hike’ …) at the lake shore for about 45 minutes; after which we were transferred back to Taichung … from here I took the next high speed rail train down to Zuoying – 15 minutes outside of Kaohsiung.
