Takayama and the Hida Folk Village

Today started with a traditional Japanese breakfast – complete with traditional clothing.

After breakfast we left for a walk around town … on another rainy day.
We kicked it off with the “Festival of Floats” Museum, followed by a visit to the Lion Mask Museum, including a demonstration of Takayama’s Karakuri theatre.

From here – with some snacks on the way – we made it back into town and to the Takayama Jinja, an administrative complex of the Tokugawa shogunate.

The afternoon was dedicated to the Hida Folk Village, an open air museum displaying Hida folk village architecture.
