Another bus ride did bring us across the border from Chile to Argentina, heading for El Calafate, another one of these towns basically only there to serve as gateway into a National Park – this time Los Glaciares – Glacier – National Park.
To make it short, there was really nothing worth mentioning in town, beside the usual restaurants, bar, hotels, souvenir and outdoor shops. We only stayed here for an afternoon, heading off for a day trip to Perito Moreno Glacier the day after our arrival.
We got to the park after a drive of approximately one hour accompanied by more or less interesting information of Polish origin… We stopped at a number of viewpoints to finally come to a boat pier for a one hour boat ride straight to the front of the glacier. Once we got back, we had time to follow the walking paths in the park to get a view of the glacier from different angles and perspectives – overall an amazing experience.
