I had another long day ahead of myself – a full day trip to see some of the salt flats and lagoons around San Pedro. We left town around 07:00 today (so not as bad as yesterday), then making our way into the Salar de Atacama and the Reserva Nacional Los Flamencos to see the flamingos.
Breakfast was once more included and served straight in the rest area of the National Reserve. After breakfast we continued to higher altitude. The next stop was in the town of Socaire. After a short stroll and a visit to the small church, we continued to Laguna Miscanti and Laguna Miniques at an altitude of approximately 4300 meters for another short walk and some amazing vistas.
From the lagoons we moved on to another salt lake – the Salar de Laco – an amazing place, greenish water with red rocks in front, a blue sky – as blue can be – and grey/ golden-ish mountains in the background … check out the photos. Here also a surprise was waiting for us. When we got back to the bus after an intensive walk, an incredible lunch was waiting for us – in an even more incredible scenery.
