Today most of the group decided to go for a guided glacier hike / climb on Franz Josef Glacier. It turned out to be a perfect day with sunshine and blue skies – a perfect day to be outdoors.

The guiding company provided us with all the equipment, most importantly hiking boots and crampons; from Franz Josef village we made it to the glacier car park by bus, then had to walk the remaining 3 km to the glacier, before we were heading uphill to actually get on the glacier – for some amazing view and a perfect time on the glacier – before we were heading back down again in the early evening – to meet up with the rest of the rest of the family for a roast dinner, followed by a bath in the local hot springs – – all in all a great day; check out the gallery and you will understand 😉
