After all that history around the founding and the early years of the US, I walked over into the old city of Philadelphia and then on to Penn’s Landing to visit the Independence Seaport Museum. It was here that many immigrants from Europe made it into the US throughout the 19th and in the first two decades of the 20th century. The museum not only features a section on that history – but also showcases the submarine Becuna and the USS Olympia.
From here I continued my walk around the old part of town and had a Philly cheese steak sandwich on South Street.
