Today was reserved for a full day of hiking in the valleys around Viñales. On the way out of town we met our guide and continued into the farmland stopping at some of the tobacco houses on the way.
Our first main stop was for a cave. We had to wait for the guy with the torches [BE]/ flashlights [AE] and made our way another 300/400 meters into the cave to end up at what seemed like a small pool. The more adventurous of us entered and realized that the pool was much bigger … we made it to the other side for a mud peeling in the dark.
From the cave (now with much softer skin) we continued the hike – for another stop at a farm for fresh coconut milk (with optional rum). On the way back to town we took a genuine shortcut – a cave/ tunnel going straight through one of the karsts around Viñales.
