We finally made it to Plovdiv … the city, as we already knew, did beat Veliko Tarnovo to become Europe’s cultural capital for 2019 … and for a reason, as we were about to learn.

During a guided tour we got some first insight into the town and its attractions … from the Roman stadium, the old town, good views from the ancient fortress, the Roman amphitheater and forum – and the modern city center.
