We had another full day around Göreme. This day started with a visit to the Göreme Open Air museum with its rock churches (no photography inside 🙁 ).
From the museum we continued to the Pasabaglari Valley with more interesting rock formations (and another rock church, which – thanks to bus loads of tourists – I had not a chance to check out); more interesting formations were waiting for us around the corner (the camel) and at Uchisar.
In the evening many of us joined in for a Whirling Dervishes presentation. The whirling dervishes are part of the Mevlevi order, a sufi order founded in Konya; their name relates to their practice of whirling in order to get closer to god.
For more information on this practice and the ceremony check out the Wikipedia page on the Mevlevi Order.
