My business trip did continue … I made it from Miami straight into Sao Paulo – after having discussed the European and North American aspects, it was now time for the South American ones.
I spent Saturday (18th) on planes and got in in the late evening; as a result I had the full Sunday for some sightseeing.
I covered a bit of Ibirapuera park with the modern art museum; from here I continued to the nearby contemporary art museum (that one was quiet amazing).
After that I continued my walk in the area and essentially ran into a carnival parade, I watched it from a distance. From the park area I continued to Avenida Paulista, one of the main business streets in Sao Paulo and certainly the one with the most impressive buildings.
They close the street down on Sundays and the street is taken over by pedestrians, bicyclists and street musician. This Sunday (19th) there were certainly more than usual – many of which had a carnival theme. It took me some time to walk the 3km and 3km down – with plenty of stops on the way. It was an interesting mix of music (from traditional Brazilian to hard rock/ metal – plus anything in between), impromptu dancing, all sorts of shows and demonstrations.
