Qaqortoq

This afternoon it was back to town – this time to Qaqortoq, with around 3300 inhabitants the forth-largest town of the island.

We were lucky, the main pier in the port was empty – and just the right size for the Hanseatic – so the captain maneuvered the ship to the pier … giving us easy access to the city and also easy access to the ship.

I made my way straight to the little museum, which was nice to see – but really just re-iterated on the other museums, we had already covered during this trip. I continued to the little square with Greenland’s most beautiful, largest and only fountain. From here it was to the Savior’s Church – and then up the hill behind the cemetery for some great views of town.

After a quick check of the new church in town, I made my way towards the other end of town, to make it up the even higher hill here – to not only get a glimpse of town, but also the surrounding fjord.
