Tokyo – Sightseeing Essentials

We were lucky enough to (successfully) close the workshop on Friday afternoon. This allowed us (i.e. the three travelers from Europe) to check out some of Tokyo’s main sites.

We first made it to Meiji Jingū to have a look at the Meiji shrine; from here we continued to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building and made it to the observation deck just after sunset (so with that special dusky atmosphere). We stayed in Shinjuku for dinner and a bit of exploration of the area.

Later on we continued to Shibuya to have a look at the scramble crossing and to see the young and crazy on their way to various Halloween parties. We had a walk in the area and finally ended up in a nice rum bar, where we had a drink or two – before heading back to the hotel.

We had Saturday planned as a buffer day for the workshop, to be used in case of some discussion  spilling over. So us (the travelers) used the day for continued sightseeing (and also the one or other informal business discussion) – heading out to Asakusa once more – to see the Senso-Ji temple at day time. From here it was on to one of Tokyo’s newer attractions – the Skytree.

We made it to the viewing platform at 350m to enjoy the views over Tokyo. With the weather not too nice we decided against going to the observatory at 450m and made it back to the hotel in the afternoon – for packing and a bit of relaxation before a long travel day on Sunday.
