We had close to another full day on Porto Santo, i.e. until our pick-up for the evening ferry at 17:00. I decided, to go out and have a bit of hike up to some higher elevation for some good views.
I ended up doing a loop of about 10km, first up to the Miradouro das Flores (with great views of Ilhéu da Cal – Chalk Island). From here it was down again and then up Pico do Espigão (270m above sea level); a dirt road finally got me back to the main road near the golf course.
Overall a worthwhile and rewarding hike – plus the Atlantic Ocean did turn out a great option for cooling down afterwards.
