We had followed an Western course over night – covering 214 nautical miles – for a morning arrival at Santa Ana Island.
After breakfast we were ready, to get ashore – we were facing another wet landing today – right at the beach of Ghupuna village. Here we had the option, to have a quick look around the village, before a performance of traditional music and dance started. Today this included the pan pipes, the Solomon Islands are famous for.
During my look around the village, I had also discovered the church – here I learned, that our hosts had scheduled their Easter Sunday (today!) service early in the morning and well before our arrival. For my case – well, I can at least say, that I have been to a church this Easter Sunday (which I cannot for previous years).
After the performance there was more time, to check out the village – until most made it back to the ship for lunch.
