During the night we had left the Liefdefjorden and made our way around the Reinsdyrflya peninsula and into the Raudfjorden – everything was now ready for a landing at Alicehamna.
As with other stops a short hike was waiting for us … first up a small hill (with great views of the fjord, the mountain ranges and the glaciers all around) to the grave of Erik Mattilas (who died here of scurvy back in 1908) – then down to the beach and to a trapper hut with a five star view (and less than one star facilities). From here it was back to the zodiacs and to the ship.
