We had moved over night once more – and were now in the 14th of July Bay (Fjortende Julibukta), named after France’s National Day – just in front of the 14th of July Glacier.
I was in one of the first zodiac groups for today – and as such made it ashore quickly after breakfast. A walk along the beach got us to the glacier – including an opportunity to climb up on the side to actually touch the glacier.
A different opportunity opened up on the way back … the chance for a polar plunge – or a quick dip into the water (temperature around 6°C / 43°F) at this picture perfect beach in close-to-perfect conditions (air temperature of 9°C / 48°F, sunshine and no wind) … for me a refreshing must-do (for others presumably more a thing of peer pressure).
