Today started with great views of the valley from our hotel and a great breakfast (with great bread and cheese, plus home-made jam and yogurt). The drive was local today, we were just heading for Jambay Lhakhang, a temple believed to have been built in 659. We got here on the day after the big temple festival, though nevertheless had the opportunity to witness some sort of ceremony – with a huge tapestry being put up, followed by some sort of service, music and dancing ceremony.
The festival grounds were also still buzzing – essentially a huge outdoor market with virtually everything on offer – from household goods, cooking pots, clothing to mattresses and furniture; one tent even housed games and drinks. Overall an interesting experience – though it may have been more interesting to witness the actual festival.
