We were exploring Tenerife’s far North today, first going by bus along the coast to San Andrés for a coffee stop (with probably the stiffest, most-motor-oil-like and as such best coffee on the whole trip), then along Playa de Las Teresitas and on to Igueste de San Andrés.
We left the bus outside Igueste – quickly finding us on a hiking trail and making our way up towards the ridge. From here it was steadily downhill, going through the Barranco De Antequera.
After about three hours (incl. breaks) we had covered a distance of about 5km (first gaining 400m in elevation, then losing 500m), to find ourselves at the hidden Playa de Antequera.
The beach is only reachable via a hike or from the sea, so there were relatively few other folks around. After a bit of beach time, we were picked up by zodiac. So, we did not have to walk back – but instead were now enjoying a boat ride along the coast (with dramatic cliffs). It took a mere 20 minutes, to get back to Playa de Las Teresitas, where a more busy beach with the full infrastructure (and dirty beer glasses) was waiting for us.
