On our second full day we made it out to Soumenlinna, Helsinki’s sea fortress … Obviously we had to leave downtown first, taking the ferry over to Soumenlinna.
On arrival to Soumenlinna we basically followed the tourist trail heading up to the church, then following the path to the museum.
From the museum we continued to the Southern and biggest island of Soumenlinna (which in total consists of four islands, connected by bridges) and made it all the way to the King’s Gate, with short stops to see Augustin Ehrensvärd’s tomb, the dry dock, the sand banks and the guns – before making it back to town.
