Singapore had been on my bucket list for quiet a while now.
So I used the opportunity and added a short stopover on my way back. Having only a full day, I decided to give it an early start first heading for Chinatown with its temples.
From Chinatown I took the MRT (subway) to Sentosa for a ride up the Tiger viewing tower (entrance fees included in my stop-over package). Views were not as expected … there was not too much to see of the town itself, though I got some good views of the cargo boats idling in the Strait of Malacca.
From here I continued to Little India, where I also had lunch; after which I made it via the Arab quarter back to the center (passing by more temples).
In the center I took another MRT train, then changing to a bus to get to the famous Singapore zoo (again – admission was included in my stop-over package).
I made it back to the center – now (in time for the golden hour) heading for the Singapore Flyer – with a total height of 165 meters the world’s biggest observation wheel. I was lucky enough to have a cabin on myself – thus enjoying uninterrupted views.
The sun was nearly down, when I left the flyer – I was now heading for the closeby Marina Bay Sands Mall and Hotel.
My final stop was probably my main motivation that actually got me to Singapore – having a Singapore Sling at the place, where it has been invented – at the Long Bar of the Raffles Hotel.
All in all a very busy day … but I had managed to really squeeze everything in, that I had wanted to do …
