Today we left Sihanouk Ville for our overnight trip to Mount Bokor.
During the French rule of Cambodia Mount Bokor was a kind of getaway from the heat for the French. Here in the mountains they built a small resort including a night club, hotel, church and casino in a cooler climate – and with a nice view.
After breakfast (served by the friendly people of the Ocean Mart) we left using rather local transport… to make it towards the National Park and the (dirt) road up Mount Bokor.
Eventually we were approaching the hill station; making our way to the park ranger center (which was also housing our accommodation).
During a walk we had the opportunity to see the hill station’s attractions – including the former hotel, post station, church – to the (still active) Buddhist monastery.
