Colonia del Sacramento

Second day after the tour; Steve and myself went over for Uruguay for the day. We left Buenos Aires in the morning on the Buquebus ferry.

After about three hours on the ferry we arrived in Colonia del Sacramento, a small tourist town, its historic city center being a UNESCO World Heritage site. The town features plenty of Spanish and Portuguese colonial buildings.

Our ferry tickets also included a tour of the city, which we enjoyed in the late afternoon. First we drove out of town to one of the more bizarre attractions of town – a combined key chain museum and jam factory (with oddities like onion jam to try and buy). Further stops included the bullring and the beach – before we got back to town for a walk up the tower.
