We left Cairo in the early morning for a six hour van ride – to leave the African continent behind and tunnel over into Asia (at least technically).
We stopped at the Morgenland resort and in close proximity to Mt. Sinai. From here we started for our sunset hike up the mountain. The hike followed a trail uphill, passing by St. Catherine’s Monastery … by foot, on camel or donkey following our Bedouin guide.
We made it to the top about half an hour before sunset, with enough light left for an opportunity to enjoy the view and some chocolate bars – – to finally watch the sun go down and heading back down (now in the dark).
On the 4th we also had the chance for a quick visit of St. Catherine’s Monastery – before continuing to Nuweiba and catching the ferry for Aquaba, Jordan.
