Back to Ushuaia

This vacation started were my last year Patagonia trip finished – in the southernmost city of the world, Ushuaia … with the difference that this time I got what I did not get a year before. I was finally getting to Antarctica. After arrival at Ushuaia airport (with what probably is the world’s southernmost Hertz station) a bus got us into town.

After arrival downtown I – of course – first made it down to the harbour to get a glimpse of my ship – the Akademik Ioffe (registered in Russia). After that I continued with a walk around town, checking out some of those places I missed the year before – and to see some penguins on a billboard for the local gym. My last stop was at the Museo Maritimo & del Presidio, a former prison now turned into a museum depicting its history and the history of the town and region.
