Cafayate

The second part of my trip had started; I made it all the way from Argentina’s deep South to its high North – the Salta / Jujuy region. I had specifically picked this region, as contrast against the icy wonders, I had just witnessed down in Antarctica.

On my first full day in the region I went for a trip to Cafayate – which turned out as a long driving day through nice scenery. On the way out – from Salta to Cafayate – we passed through the Quebrada de Cafayate, where we had a number of stops – shorter ones for photos, but also longer ones for some walking.

Cafayate not only features nice scenery, the area is also an important wine-growing region of Argentina; of course the Argentinian signature grape – Malbec – was also around, with plenty of options to give it a taste.

On the way back, we passed through the same valley – and again had some stops – at places we had not stopped on the way down – or to take in the changed lighting.
