Trail Ridge Road

We continued through Colorado and made our way into Rocky Mountain NP. We first stopped at the visitor center at the park’s West – here we once more asked for junior ranger books – to then continue to a nearby picnic spot for lunch. While we had lunch, the van decided that an electrical fire would be a good idea … Kelly got it extinguished and after a quick check of the van, we had to continue the trip without working air conditioning (which was fine for now).

We headed on up Trail Ridge Road, the high pass road crossing Rocky Mountain NP and the continental divide. During the drive to Estes Park we had a number of stops for views and short walks. In the evening we went to a ranger talk to learn about elk mating.
