After the visit in Tamegroute we continued to M’Hamid. Here we had lunch, before getting ready for our overnight trip into the Sahara.
After a one hour camel ride, we changed to 4WD for a further two hours until we reached the camp next to the Erg Chigaga dunes.
We got here in the late afternoon about 1.5 hours before sunset – so plenty of time for some dune climbing (the strenuous part) and running down again (clearly the fun part). 😉
Once the sun had set, temperatures did drop dramatically again. We had a small fire to warm up; dinner was quiet exceptional, considering where it had been made … just the toilet pit (or should I say mound) needed some getting used to.
Most called it an early night – and missed out on a mad camel (nearly killing Adrian) and some impromptu camp music.
