Veliko Tarnovo turned out as our first stop in Bulgaria. We had a full free day to explore the city. Most of us joined a free city walking tour in the morning to get some orientation in the former capital of Bulgaria during medieval times.

In the afternoon, I had a closer look at the fortress no Tsarevets Hill.

In the evening most of the group came together again for the alternative free city walking tour … this time looking into the present and the current political situation.
