We did not go down in pace – and continued on to Jaipur today – with the first stop at the Amber Fort, close to the Amer quarter of the city of Jaipur.
The Amber Fort is – yet another – massive palace building, built mainly from red sandstone and marble, construction started in the late 16th century.
To me the building felt less chaotic than the fort in Agra, with it following a clear architectural layout (essentially designed around four courtyards, each with its own purpose and surrounding buildings). Our guide also added quiet well – providing good insight into history, illustrated by short stories … certainly one of the better fort experiences for me on this trip.
