Thule

This morning did bring us to the previous location of Qaanaaq, that we had visited yesterday; we also got a glimpse of the “background” of the town’s relocation – the very visible US airbase at the other side of the bay.

For the more energetic a hike up Thule mountain was on offer. At 220 meters surely not the highest mountain – but certainly challenging enough considering the gradient (check the photos … numbers won’t do justice here). It took us about 25 minutes to make it to the top, where we were rewarded with fabulous panorama views of the whole area.

After the climb down I had a quick walk around the other sites (the former village, the cemetery), I missed the old Inuit settlement though – no time left 🙁 .
