Exploring Manali

Today we spent a full day in Manali, checking out the sights – and spoiler: we were now clearly in Hindu country.

First stop of the day was at Shri Vasistha Temple, a temple made out of wood featuring sacred hot spring baths. From here it was on to the next Hindu temple: Manu Temple in  Old Manali. This was followed by a walk through old Manali (aka hippie tourist central) with tons of cafes, souvenirs shops and hostels – all geared towards the more alternative tourist.

We had (so-so) momos for lunch in a restaurant along Mall Road in central Manali. This is the market for the locals – and we had time for exploration after lunch. We closed the sightseeing day at Hadimba Devi Temple, a 16th century wooden Hindu temple built in a cedar forest. There was also the opportunity for a photo with yaks and bunnies.
