Things don’t go always as planned. Per the original plan we would have headed to Amritsar and the Golden Temple today. However, given the continued (German) government advisory this was not an option and we were offered a replacement program.
As such we were heading for Kangra Fort – about 20km south of Dharamsala – this morning. Kangra Fort (well, what is left of it) is the the oldest fort in the Himalayas and – based on mythology – goes back for more than 4000 years. The earliest – still existing -remains inside the fort are Jain and Hindu temples from around the 9th-10th century.
We spent time exploring the fort and temples, as well as taking in the views of the Beas River Basin.
