A long drive later we arrived at the jungle retreat … a simple kind of resort with dormitory style accommodation (at least for us), a restaurant and a pool (which doubles as watering hole for the animals around – wild and domestic).

We had an afternoon to relax, enjoy the area nearby (of course always with the safety instruction in mind), have a read, relax at the pool and watch or play with the goats.

In the late afternoon we got picked up for a sort of game drive … sort of, because it mostly followed the main road through the park with plenty of other traffic. On the way out we had a stop at the park’s elephant camp.

The highlight actually was on the way back, when we drove through a more isolated area and – some lucky ones of us – actually saw for a split-second a leopard …
