Mysore

After an active morning, a nice breakfast and an about three hours drive (with a coffee stop in the middle of nowhere) we made it into Mysore. On the way in we stopped at the Chamundi Temple on a hill near town. This was our first proper encounter with a Hindu temple on this trip – and a very busy one … lines were long, so we decided to not go in and keep that experience for later.

After a walk around the temple we continued into town to our hotel for a short lunch break. Following that, the next major highlight was already waiting for us – Mysore Palace – the former seat of the Maharajas of Mysore – a truly impressive complex. A guide showed us around inside (very strictly no photos), gave us some background on the history and made Nick the king.

This was followed by a tour around town with stops at the cathedral, an incense shop (with some interesting English/German translations) and – finally – a proper bar.
