Wuhan at Night & stinky Tofu

Tonight most of the interns, Lesley and Lya joined in for a guided night tour through Wuhan with Sanjiev and myself as the tour guides. We met in the lobby around 17:30 and walked all the way down to the Yangtze river; on the way we were lucky enough to – once more – see one of the few pandas of Wuhan.

We had bad luck with the ferry – we just missed one, when we got to the terminal – which finally though turned out to be good luck, as we thus had some of the best spots on the next boat to actually watch the skyline and the amazing light show.

Once back on land on the other bank of the river, we guided the group to an area with food stalls to sample all the local delicacies and to see them being produced.

For me these food night markets are always the top experience in Asia, usually the best, freshest and cheapest food … with loads of options to challenge one’s taste buds … the BIG challenge this time: stinky tofu … I had seen that stuff before, but never actually managed to eat it due to its smell … today I managed – and I guess, I do not need that challenge again ….

From the night market we continued up to get a night time view of the Yellow Crane tower and the city from the big Yangtze River Bridge.

We took in the views from the bridge while crossing – though once we hit the Hanyang side, the group separated – the interns heading back to their places, while the rest of us made it back to Hankou and the hotel.
