Viscri

Arriving in Viscri felt like stepping back in time …

Our bed rooms were essentially old farmhouse parlors, in many cases complete with furniture and decoration from as far back as the 19th century. The rooms had a slight museum feel – though were definitely there to be used … kind of felt special.

After moving in, we had a walk around town to take in the atmosphere. We made our way up to the fortified church – had a visit there (with some good views from the church tower) – before making it down into the village again. After a stop at the Sock Project (selling socks, felt slippers and hats, made by villagers … part of a bigger funding scheme with the products actually sold in Germany through an aid organization – this way helping the villagers to survive and allow their children to attend secondary education) and one at the local watering hole we made it back to our homes – in time for an impromptu jam tasting and a nice dinner.
