Surprise … surprise … our expedition team had managed to get an early morning slot for a shore landing at Petermann Island – conveniently located at the South end of the Lemaire Channel at 65°10′ S, 64° 10′ W – and now for me the furthest South, I have ever been.
So at some time shortly after 05:00 an announcement was made and soon after we were on the zodiacs over to Petermann Island and its penguin colony.
