Santiago Zamora

Today was a mixed day – mixed as in mixed groups (old and new group).

We started in the morning for the first activity – a visit to the community of Santiago Zamora, a small community that works together to produce traditional weaving with the goal to sell these to tourists and then share the benefits equally, the overall target being to improve their living conditions.

We were introduced in their handicraft work, had a walk around the village and lunch. After lunch we made it back to Antigua.

On to Antigua and Guatemala

Today we left Honduras and continued into Guatemala – and, guess what … yes … we again had a multi-hour stop at the border. This time the problem was not that certain people would not be admitted into a country … no, the problem was to get out of a country (the Ukrainians were short of being sent back to the capital as illegal aliens; it took Juan-Carlos quiet a while to get it sorted out … really amazing, considering they had the right documentation and visas available)

We made it into Antigua in the late afternoon – and just in time for some first impressions – – and the last supper of the first part of the group. Some folks were leaving now, new folks were joining.
