From the Monument Valley we continued to the Grand Canyon. A stop at the visitor center and walk to the watch tower gave us a glimpse of what “GRAND” actually means.
The most unexpected thing happened during our night in Monument Valley – it rained. So instead of enjoying the night sky or heading out early for a fabulous sunrise, we kind of slept in and only got out of the tents shortly before breakfast … which was also about when the rain stopped.

In the evening we drove from town to the Bar-J ranch for a chuckwagon dinner and show with music, comedy and yodeling.
This was our first day without a fix time in the morning; I stayed in my sleeping bag until 09:30 and got started slowly. After that I joined the queue to get laundry done.
In the afternoon, once we were all back to clean clothing, Kelly drove us over to Jackson for an afternoon of ice cream, shopping, tea and exploration.
