Independence National Historic Park

I was over in North Carolina for a 1.5 week business trip. Over the weekend I decided to leave the South and head up to Philadelphia to explore US history.

I made it into Philadelphia in the early morning, made my way downtown and started exploring the sites around Independence National Historic Park straight away.I first stopped at the Liberty Bell to then continue on for Independence Square and a guided tour through Independence Hall led by an enthusiastic park ranger. After a quick lunch I continued in the National Constitution Center.

Rocky Mountain NP

A further business trip in 2008 got me back to Boulder; also this time our hosts took well care of us – and we had an enjoyable weekend in Rocky Mountain NP. Below some impressions.

Yosemite

Our last stop on the trek (before San Francisco) was the Yosemite NP. The first day mostly consisted of driving to Yosemite, passing Mono Lake and the Tioga Pass.
The second day was another hiking day – I did what is probably the most strenuous  day hike around – the Halfdome hike, a 17 mile or 27 km hike with an 1 mile or 1600m height gain on the way up and the same number in height loss for the way down – a hard, but really rewarding hike.
After coming back from the hike we joined the group for pizza – our last official tour dinner.
