Macaw Mountain

We made it back to town after our visit to the ruins, had some pizza – and then (after a short break) moved on to Macaw Mountain, as bird sanctuary with (obviously) focus on macaws.

The highlight was certainly around the interaction center, where we were allowed to play with some birds (or better – the birds were allowed to play with us).

Travel Day: Utila to Copan

We left Utila this morning; boarded the ferry back to the mainland and La Ceiba.

In La Ceiba we continued straight for the bus station, where we had breakfast and then boarded a bus to San Pedro Sula (the convict bus). After a short stop-over (45mins) in San Pedro Sula we boarded the bus again and continued the journey to the this day’s destination – Copan, where we arrived a couple of sliding tires later.

Into Honduras

On the 23rd we left Nicaragua and made it into Honduras – once more with a multi-hour stop in no-mans-land due to problems with two passports (indeed there were no problems, the immigration officers simply did not know the regulations).

We arrived late in Comayagua, with no time to see town (it rained like crazy anyhow).

On the 24th we left early to get to La Ceiba for the ferry to Utila, one of the Honduras bay islands in the Carribean Sea.
